About the Cooperative Education and Careers Division

As pioneers of cooperative education in Ireland since 1972, we are dedicated to bridging the gap between academia and the workplace. The Cooperative Education & Careers Division is responsible for the management, development and delivery of the cooperative education, careers and school placement programmes at University of Limerick. Co-op is central to UL’s educational philosophy and branding and is consistently praised by our students as one of the top reasons for choosing UL over other higher education institutions. Based on the North American system, UL operates a centralised model of placement for both its co-op and School Placement programmes, whereby responsibility for securing placements lies with the University.

UL has a strong employability focus and is committed to equipping students and graduates with skills and competencies they will need to build successful careers. During their four years at UL, students have access to an extensive range of employability-focused activities, including placement, careers development programmes, skills development and assessment sessions, and one-to-one consultations, to empower them to prepare for and manage their future careers.
