Architecture of Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing
During the last decade industry, agencies and academia established the fundamentals of an architecture describing modern process development / manufacturing in the biopharmaceutical industry. This presentation will highlight some of the cornerstones focusing on smart process development, PAT and protein formulation issues and give case studies from our research activities pinpointing latest developments.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Since 2008, Jürgen holds a full professorship with the Institute of Process Engineering in Life Sciences, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Prior to that, he was Department Leader in the Bioseparation Group at the Institute of Biotechnology 2, Jülich, Germany (2003-2008) and a Group Leader at the Institute of Enzyme Technology, University of Düsseldorf, Germany (2001-2002). He completed his PhD under the supervision of Professor O.R.T. Thomas at the Technical University of Denmark (1997-2000) and his Master of Philosophy at the Heriot-Watt University, Scotland (1993-1995). His current research interests include: High throughput process development in the biopharmaceutical field; Modelling – from molecular structure to process; Process Analytical Technology; Formulation of biopharmaceuticals – solubility and phase behaviour; Process development for vaccines and therapeutic cells and Printable Biotechnology.
