Autumn schedule 2024
- Courses are geared towards adult learners. They are open to UL students/staff as well as members of the general public.
- Courses will run for 20 weeks, October 2024 - April 2025.
- Courses will commence Tuesday/Wednesday 1-2 October 2024 from 18.30-20.30.
- The fee is €350 for 20 weeks. Payment options will be circulated once your application has been received. Courses will run subject to demand.
- The UL/MIC student rate is €180 (€90 per semester). The student rate applies to the following categories also: Refugees / Job Seekers / People living with a disability / OAP (65+). Please note that evidence of situation will be requested.

- Aonad na Gaeilge Language Tutors have much experience of working with adult learners of Irish. Language learning strategies are discussed regularly in class - ways of dealing with common fears around making mistakes, not being understood in Irish, reading out loud, using Irish in the community, and so forth. Learners are encouraged to reflect on their progress and the focus is always on self-encouragement.
This online course is suitable for those who never studied Irish before. It is not suitable for those who studied Irish at school. Themes include greetings/meeting people, background and where you live, hobbies and pastimes.

This course would be suitable for those who had a good standard of Irish at school but may now be out of practice. It focuses on building learners' confidence in speaking, along with enhancing listening, reading, and writing skills. There is a lunchtime option available for UL students/staff - please email ciara.considine@ul.ie for more details.

This course would be suitable for individuals who already have very good understanding of the language and wish to improve their speaking and writing skills for use in both social and professional situations. The course covers a wide range of topics, including contemporary and cultural aspects of Irish, as well as specific grammatical themes. Learners who enroll in this course often have a formal qualification in the language, such as Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (e.g. B1) or academic qualifications (e.g. BA, BEd, Diploma, or MA) and/or have regular contact with the language in their professional and personal contexts.
