Dr Nadine Rossol

Former UL doctoral student Nadine Rossol has been awarded a personal chair in history at the University of Essex, which she joined in 2010 as lecturer, promoted to senior lecturer and now to professor in history from October 2023.

 

Nadine was IRCHSS postgraduate scholar  in the department  2003-2005 and IRCHSS Postdoctoral Fellow 2007-2009 , both under the supervision of Professor McElligott. Nadine's PhD thesis was published by Palgrave Macmillan as  Performing the Nation in Interwar Germany: Sport, Spectacle and Political Symbolism, 1926-1936 in 2010.  Her IRCHSS Postdoctoral fellowship was to enable work on the project: "Policing as Pedagogy. The State, the Police and Civic Identity in Germany 1920s- 1950s." During this period she also taught modules on  the Holocaust and Weimar Cultural History. In 2011712 Nadine was a Fellow of the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Berlin. 

Professor Rossol recently  co-edited with Benjamin Ziemann The Oxford Handbook of the Weimar Republic (OUP, 2022).
