The School of Law recently hosted the annual Kate Fleming Memorial Mediation Competition, an event that brings together law and medical students to collaborate on resolving a medical negligence claim through mediation. In this unique contest, law students partner with medical students to prepare for mediation, with the latter providing crucial medical expertise and drafting expert reports. This collaborative approach allows participants to gain valuable insights into both the legal and medical aspects of healthcare disputes.
The competition serves as an excellent platform for students to develop practical skills in alternative dispute resolution and exemplifies UL's commitment to fostering cross-disciplinary learning and cooperation.
Named in honor of former UL School of Law student Kate Fleming, the competition was judged by Professor Eimear Spain.
