Dr Kathryn O’Sullivan, School of Law recently provided oral evidence to the House of Commons’ Women and Equalities Committee in the UK as part of its investigation into the rights of cohabiting partners. The invitation to discuss the Irish experience of undertaking cohabitation law reform arose as the Committee investigate the equalities issues around cohabitation, how cohabitation rights could be strengthened and what legal protection for cohabitants could look like and how this might be introduced. A report on the issue is due for publication and presentation to the UK Parliament later this year.
