Last week we held our annual Charity Lecturer v Student Soccer Match which was a great success. There was a great turnout of players from the faculty and student side, as well as spectators on the day accompanied by lovely weather.

The Law School reached victory with a small draft of students for the third year running, ending the match 3-1. Special commendation is given to Tort Law Lecturer and team captain Eoin Quill for a spectacular save in the second half, aided by his defensive squad of administrator Kathleen Coll and Constitutional Law Lecturer Dr Laura Cahillane. Our forward line was also on their A-Game, especially UL Mens Soccer star Eoin Redmond's fantastic footwork in midfield, working with our forwards, Law Plus course director Dr Luke Danagher and PhD student Nawar Asaad, to great effect. Student team captain, Jake Buckley, was graceful both on the field and in defeat.

Law Society President, Ronan O'Sullivan, congratulated both teams for a match well played: "For the 3rd consecutive year the Law School have retained their title with the aid of some students to even out the teams, so we will have to see if this will continue next year again! This year we chose to raise money for the UNICEF - Gaza Emergency Appeal Fund to help the humanitarian crisis currently ongoing in Gaza. With the situation worsening we believe the funds raised by the raffling of the jerseys are most needed there. We raised 174€ for the UNICEF - Gaza Emergency Appeal Fund. This event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors A&L Goodbody, and without the participation of the School of Law and the students."
