The School of Law hosted a recent seminar to mark the publication of the second edition of Criminal Liability by Prof Finbarr McAuley and Prof Paul McCutcheon.
The authors, who UL Provost Prof Shane Kilcommins interviewed, discussed the distinctive features of their work, especially its historical and comparative dimensions and the use of literature from disciplines such as philosophy and the behavioural sciences.
They also commented on their extensive treatment of codification and law reform proposals. In addition, the authors remarked on the changing landscape of Irish criminal law with significant developments in appellate court jurisprudence not being matched by legislative action.
The seminar was attended by members of the judiciary, legal practitioners, and academic lawyers.
