Body Text:
On his recent St Patrick's day visit to the White House Mixed Martial Arts fighter Conor McGregor made a number of claims about crime in Dublin. The source of these claims appear to be an online gambling site. Dr Johnny Connolly of the Centre for Crime, Justice and Victims studies and REPPP in the School of Law responds to these claims. Although most crimes go un-reported to the police and therefore do not appear in the 'official' crime statistics published by the Central Statistics Office Dublin has many of the same problems as any other European city of its size, he argues.
