Carol Daugherty Rasnic is Professor Emerita of Business Law, Labor Law, and International Law at Virginia Commonwealth University.
She is a five-time Fulbright Professor of Law (Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Austria [two]). She has served as visiting professor at university law schools in Austria (Graz, Innsbruck, and Linz), Germany (Augsburg, Hannover, Jena, Mainz, Regensburg, and Tubingen), Ireland (Griffith College Dublin), the Swiss Business School, and she was Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Limerick. She has had several research grants to the Institute for Labor Law and Industrial Relations in the European Communities in Trier, Germany, and she was a recipient of the Professor Sir Neil MacCormick Fellowship for research at the University of Edinburgh School of Law (spring, 2012).
Professor Rasnic has been admitted to the bars of Tennessee and Virginia and has practised law in both states.
She has worked as in-house corporate counsel and as a state (Virginia) administrative law judge. She is the author of three books and over 150 law journal articles, book reviews, or monographs and is a current or past member of the American Bar Association and the Virginia Bar Association, the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, the International Society for Social Security and Labor Law, the Society of Legal Scholars, the Socio-Legal Studies Association, the Congress of International Legal Scholars, the Irish Association of Law Teachers, the Irish Legal History Society, and the Thomas More Society.
