Dr Tara Giddens

In 2021, Tara completed her thesis “Investigating the Irish New Woman: Journalists in Media and Fiction” at the University of Limerick. Since then, Tara has been teaching various subjects at UL including Gothic Literature, English for Academic Purposes, Academic Writing, and Communications.

She is continuing her research on Irish women journalists from the nineteenth century and interested in the local and international networks they were involved with throughout their careers. 

Tara’s research also analyses and compares the fictional and journalists work of Irish women journalists, specifically, Kathleen Coleman, L. T. Meade, and Charlotte O’Conor Eccles.

Her article “Promoting Professional Networks: Charlotte O’Conor Eccles’ Journalism and Fiction” (2023) has recently been published in a special issue for English Studies.
