A highlight of early summer for all readers and book lovers, the UL Creative Writing Festival returns, featuring a stellar line-up of international, award-winning writers: including Roddy Doyle, Kit deWaal, Kevin Barry, Danielle McLaughlin, Donal Ryan, Joseph O’Connor, Louise Kennedy, Sebastian Barry, Sarah Moore Fitzgerald, poets Emily Cullen, Kayssie Kandiwa, Sean Hewitt, Rachael Hegarty, Jane Clarke and many more.
The Festival will include the launch of the 2022 edition of UL’s literary journal The Ogham Stone and readings from our unique “Creative Writers In The Community” module, led by Eoin Devereux. Poetry, prose, talks, writing tips, book signings.

PROGRAMME

FRIDAY 20th MAY

  • 1.30 – 2.30pm: Sarah Moore Fitzgerald and Sheila Killian (reading from their work)
  • 2.45 – 4.30pm: Creative Writers in the Community event, with Eoin Devereux and guests.
  • To include brief readings from UL Creative Writing teachers.
  • 4.45 – 5.30pm: Ogham Stone launch. Readers/speakers tbc.
  • 5.45 – 6.45pm: Poetry reading by Seán Hewitt, Rachael Hegarty and Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi.
  • 7 -8pm: Kevin Barry and Lisa McInerney, reading, introduced by Joseph O’Connor. Followed by book signing

SATURDAY 21st MAY

  • 10.30 -11. 45am: Sarah Moore Fitzgerald presents ‘Five Habits for Creative Writers: Evidence-based Insights on How Writers Get Their Work Done.’
  • 12- 1.30pm: Kit deWaal on ‘Ten Things I Wish I’d Known Before Becoming a Writer’.
  • 2- 3pm: Poetry Reading with Emily Cullen, Kayssie Kandiwa and Jane Clarke.
  • 3.15 – 4.15pm: Danielle McLaughlin and Louise Kennedy, reading.
  • 5 -6pm: Roddy Doyle and Kit deWaal, reading. Followed by book signing.

SUNDAY 22nd MAY

  • 1- 2 pm: Sebastian Barry and Donal Ryan, reading.
  • Followed by signing until 2.30pm
