Head of School - Dr Yvonne Cleary

Associate Professor in TCID

Yvonne teaches and coordinates modules in technical communication, new media, and e-learning. From 2011 to 2019, she was Course Director for the MA in Technical Communication and E-Learning. During this time, she wrote and submitted two winning applications for the programme for the 2018 and 2019 Grad Ireland Postgraduate Course of the Year (Arts and Humanities) awards.

Niamh O'Sullivan Walsh 

Professional Support staff at the School of English, Irish, and Communication. Niamh joined the University of Limerick in 2006 and joined our school in 2017. Niamh has a background in management and training in both the private and public sectors. 

Niamh holds a Diploma and BA Degree in Management Practice and Postgraduate Diploma in Work & Organisation Behaviour.

Alan Donnellan

Alan joined the University of Limerick in 2021 and joined our school in Nov 2023, bringing a wealth of knowledge & experience to the school.

Alan is a graduate of the Kemmy Business School where he majored in Business, Economics & Finance. His background lies in commercial & private banking however he has found a home at UL where his interests lie in Arts & Humanities, Student Welfare & Leadership practises. 

Alan also carries a Dioplóma sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach from Ulster University & is keen to develop his Irish Language skills with us.

Rachel McLoughlin

Rachel joined University of Limerick in 2017 and moved to the School of English, Irish, and Communication in 2025. Rachel has a background in administration, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement within academic settings.

Rachel is a graduate of UL, holding a Bachelor of Arts in German and Linguistics with TESOL and an MA in Applied Linguistics.
