Ray O’Brien

Ray joined the Bernal Institute in June 2018 as the Consultancy Manager, responsible for engaging with industry on business development and consultancy based activities. Ray holds a Specialist Diploma in Technology Commercialisation from UL, a Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, a certificate in Intellectual Property Management from the Law Society of Ireland, a higher certificate in Mechanical Engineering and a Diploma in Project Management.

Ray worked across a wide range of diverse industries at Senior and technical posts for 20 years in the Construction, Medical Device, Electronics, Manufacturing, Product Design, Oil and Gas Industries. In his last role Ray was the Innovation and Operations manager for a medical device company developing Healthcare solutions for both national and export markets. He led the development of a wearable wound management device which was developed through working with local, international companies and institutes to deliver a smart wound management device. The research was funded through a Horizon 2020 initiative.
