Dervla Ryan is a European Studies graduate with a German and Sociology Major, and she is the Vice-President Communities Officer for the academic year 2024/2025.

As Communities Officer, Dervla is the primary representative and advocate for the equality, diversity and inclusion interests of all UL students, focusing on students from minority groups in particular. She is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive community for all students.

Dervla is especially passionate about creating more ‘Third Spaces’ for students so that they may naturally foster relationships and community. To expand on this, Dervla will also focus on helping students feel a sense of belonging in Limerick, not just UL. Dervla also has a background with ULSL Clubs & Societies, and one of her main goals is to make C&S more inclusive and accessible so that all students can find their pack. Finally, Dervla strives to provide more support and services for students with undiagnosed disabilities. As communities officer, she will ensure that the student's voice is at the forefront when it comes to decision-making at UL.
