“The student life in UL is amazing, there’s a club or society for almost everything here.”
From Co-Op to catwalks - for Mallaidh, choosing to study at UL meant getting a perfect balance between her passions and a top-class business degree
Moving Counties
“Originally from Wexford, I was so excited to choose Business at UL on my CAO form. The Kemmy Business school offered exactly what I was looking for in a degree, and once I visited the campus for the open day I was sold! I loved the idea that you can work as part of your degree here, earning both a wage and an experience. While initially nervous of the move across the country to Limerick to take up my offer at UL, it has been so worth it. I’m so glad I’m backed myself to make that leap; I feel like I am part of Limerick now, I came here not knowing anyone and I have made the most amazing friends for life.”
Clubs & Socs
“During my time here at UL, I joined some of UL’s Clubs & Societies. The student life in UL is amazing; there’s a club or society for almost everything here. I was part of the Swim Club committee in first year and helped to organize varsities, which is a swim competition between all university swim clubs in Ireland. UL also gave me the opportunity to train as a lifeguard so it was great to be able to use those skills and work at the Olympic Pool in the world-class UL Arena. Facilities at UL are second to none.”
Work/Studies Balance
“With such a busy schedule juggling work with study, it taught me the importance of time management to ensure a healthy balance. These skills were also a huge help to me on my Co-Op placement with B Free in their Chicago office. There were periods where I lived between Limerick and London in order to balance my work and education (which was as tumultuous as you would expect) but absolutely worth it for all the opportunities that came my way.
Fast forward to my final year in college, I think back to some the experiences I had as a college student, getting to work with brands like Chanel, Brown Thomas, Gucci, Tatler magazine, ultimately featuring in The Irish Time’s “Ones to Watch 2023”. UL has given me both the confidence and skillset to push the boundaries of my potential in all aspects of life, not just in a professional sense”.
