    What we're Doing

    Limerick Voice is a community collaboration between UL Journalism students ,the Limerick Regeneration agency and communities living in Limerick city and county. A local newspaper and website for Limerick city and county. The project is responsible for production of a local newspaper distributed with the Limerick Leader as well as the project's website: limerickvoice.com

    Why are we doing it

    This project provides news, current affairs, sports and features in a local newspaper and website for dedicated to Limerick city and county, with dedicated content for the regeneration areas of Ballinacurra Western, Moyross, Southhill and St Mary's Park.

    Who we're working with

    Staff and student journalists in this project collaborate with community groups and the LImerick Regeneration Agency to source and share local stories.

    How well are we doing

    The project is overseen by an Advisory Board constituting representatives from the range of participating interests. The Advisory Board supports the work of the newspaper and website by providing feedback, advice and ideas to the journalists working on this project. The project is evaluated annually and published in a UL Engage Report.

    What will you do on this practicum?

    Students on this module will: source stories; carry out interviews; and write content for news, sports and features for both print and digital media content.

    Why will you do this work?

    This practical experience enables students to learn how to produce a local newspaper including: planning and devising content; writing news and features stories to a professional standard within set deadlines; learning teamwork and professional skills required in a variety of different roles in the production process.

    Who will you be working with?

    Local community sources (including, for example, political, policing and educational groups), as well as community interests and organizations. The project as a whole is supported by the Regeneration Agency and the four participating regeneration communities.

    How will your work be evaluated?

    Students are assessed on layout and design, team engagement and the UL Graduate Attributes, as well as a content portfolio of their work.
