Announcing Dil Wickremasinghe; Paraic Barnes & Dr Sindy Joyce
Dil Wickremasinghe, is a former Newstalk presenter, a LGBT activist a Social Justice and Mental Health Journalist and mental health service provider, a Podcaster and occasional Stand Up Comedian. Dil is an ambassador for See Change, SOS and One in Four and shares her story in an effort to break down mental health stigma and inspire people to embark on their own journey towards self-discovery and reaching their true potential! She co-founded Insight Matters psychotherapy service with her wife Anne Marie Toole.
Paraic Barnes has worked for many years in a number of roles within the fields of education and psychology. He suffered complete and irreversible sight loss in 2012. Since then, he has managed the transition from sightedness to sightlessness, continuing his work with the Department of Education and Skills. In 2018 he was awarded a BSc (Couns) with 1st class honours from the University of Middlesex (UK). Paraic has written articles for national and local newspapers and gives talks to community groups documenting his experiences around diversity and inclusion.
Dr Sindy Joyce is a Human Rights Defender (HRD) and member of President Michael D Higgins Council of State. She was named as one of the ‘50 brilliant Irish women who inspired us in 2018’ by the Daily Edge. She is the first Mincéir in Ireland to graduate with a PhD and to be appointed to the Council of State.
