Title: "Literaturübersetzung im Wandel - Literary Translation in the Age of AI"
Abstract
The presentation explores the intersection of literary translation and artificial intelligence, examining literary translation as a scientific discipline and the changing practices of translating literary texts. I examine the development of AI tools used in different translation practices, highlighting the vital role of the so-called human expert, and discuss the transformative impact on the profession of translators. Through a series of case studies, I analyse the output of various AI tools when applied to different literary texts, assessing their potential and limitations. The discussion aims to offer insights into the advantages and disadvantages of AI, while advocating for the preservation of human creativity and interpretative nuance.
