Launch of EHS Commit to Green Targets: Awareness of the Re-Usable Cup Scheme in the University of Limerick

The EHS Commits to Green Targets group is excited to announce a new series, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and raising awareness of the University Re-Usable Cup Scheme. Over the next four weeks, the team will share information, tips and updates to help us all contribute to a greener faculty and campus.

The topics covered over the next few weeks will include:

• Part 1: Understanding the EHS Re-Usable Cup Scheme
• Part 2: How to get your reusable cup and where the scheme is implemented on campus
• Part 3: Tips for incorporating your reusable cup into your routine
• Part 4: Benefits of using your reusable cup

Together, we can make a significant impact on UL's environment footprint. The EHS Commits to Green Targets group thanks faculty, staff, students and the wider community for participating in this important initiative.

Part 1: Understanding the Re-Usable Cup Scheme 

The Re-Usable Cup Scheme encourages the use of reusable cups instead of disposable ones at Masterchef outlets on UL Campus. Switching to reusable options can make a considerable difference as over 200 million single-use cups are used in Ireland every year. UL already uses compostable cups and packaging on campus, but we are always looking for ways to improve our sustainability practices.

Some T&Cs and additional information:

• ONLY rinsed lids & cups can be accepted for return.
• Damaged or Dirty lids or cups will NOT be accepted for reuse or return for health & safety.
• Please rinse and re-use the same cup to ensure maximum effect of our scheme. 1,000 minimum uses per cup.
• The Reusable Cup Scheme is only applicable for discounts and refunds at Masterchef outlets and cannot be redeemed or refunded at other venues.
• Returned cups are washed offsite before redistribution.
• Deposit returned in cash

Part 2: How to get your reusable cup and where the scheme is implemented on campus

1. Visit a Masterchef outlet on campus. These include

• The Pavilion
• The Stables Club
• Eden Restaurant

2. Pay a small deposit: When you get your reusable cup, a small deposit will be required. This deposit is refundable when you return your cup.

3. Enjoy your beverage: Use your reusable cup for your favourite beverage - every time you use a reusable cup, you are contributing to reducing waste on our campus.

4. Return and Reuse: when you're done, simply rinse your cup and return it to any Masterchef outlet on campus to get your deposit back or to use it for another beverage.
