LDCRC PI Dr Sinead O Keeffe from the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering is seeking a Post Doctoral Researcher Level 1 in Optical Fibre Sensors for Medical Applications. 

Research Focus:

  • Optical Fiber Sensors for Medical Applications:

    The Royal Society – Research Ireland funded project aims to develop a distributed optical fibre sensor system to monitor radiation dose volumes in medical applications, namely radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, and medical radioisotope production. The candidate will be responsible for conducting research, within the framework of this project, in the development of the optical fibre-based sensor and related data acquisition system for radiation monitoring. The project involves international academic, industrial, and clinical partners, and the candidate must interact with all partners in the development of the sensor system and integration in the relevant environments.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Physics, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering)
  • Strong background in optics, photonics, or fiber optics
  • Experience with experimental research and data analysis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
