Mr. Maurice Lynch MSc, RGN an Alumni of Department of Nursing and midwifery spoke about his experiences as a male in the healthcare profession.
Maurice currently works as a staff nurse within a surgical ward in the University Hospital Limerick. He graduated as a nurse in 2020 from the University of Limerick (UL) and completed his MSc in Nursing, again in UL, in 2023. He has an avid interest in person-centred care, therapeutic relationships and evidence-based practice in nursing. Key note speaker Dr David Coleman spoke about "What boys need from their dads", how dads can physically, psychologically and emotionally engage with their sons to model healthy male behaviours and guide them into the future. Dr David Coleman is a practicing Clinical Psychologist and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Psychology in UCD. He specialises in working with children, teenagers and their families. He is probably best known for the range of television programmes he has presented dealing with childhood struggles, teenage angst, and other aspects of family life.
