Paramedic Studies will host a Major Emergency Exercise on January 25th next on the North Campus. The scenario will include a car crashed into a crowd, the presence of a suspicious device and shots fired. Students exercised will include Paramedic Studies, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, National Ambulance Service students, Garda recruits and Carlow Institute’s Special Effects Makeup students. Services involved will include the National Ambulance Service, An Garda Siochána, Limerick Fire and Rescue Service, Civil Defence Swift Water Rescue, Irish Army Explosive Ordnance Division (Bomb Squad) and the Irish Coastguard. Protected access to the School of Medicine and Health Sciences buildings will be provided on the day and people are asked to comply with the instructions of Security personnel.
