UL Doctoral College and UL Global/Study Abroad/Summer School were delighted to welcome a contingent of 113 doctoral researchers, faculty, and staff from Gwynedd Mercy University (GMU) in Pennsylvania to the university for the 2nd consecutive year.
The GMU group will undertake a Summer School in Educational Leadership during their visit to UL from the 7th to 13th of May 2024
In addition to an extensive social and cultural programme, the group will learn about the Irish educational landscape, hear about the use of Assistive Technology in Higher Education, explore the theme of Inclusive Education in the Irish context, engage in sessions around Educational Leadership in Ireland, undertake an inter-institutional Thesis-in-Three competition, and much else besides.
The GM immersion experience with the Faculty of Education and Health Sciences and the Doctoral College would not have been possible without support and guidance from UL Global. Their staff met us at Shannon Airport, helped us secure first- rate lodging, arranged excellent meals at local restaurants, took us to amazing natural and cultural phenomena, and made us comfortable in every way. Not only did they make arrangements for us, but their thoughtful staff were also present and personally guided us at the university and in our tours to ensure that we made the most of our limited time in the west of Ireland. I would highly recommend UL's Global Office to visiting groups at any level. We could not have had a better, more enjoyable, and more rewarding experience!
The GMU group are currently planning their attendance for their conference for May 2025 and are looking forward to their return to our wonderful campus and surrounding areas.
