What is included with Microsoft Office 365 (Microsoft 365 Apps)?

As a registered student or member of staff, you will be able to download and install Microsoft Office 365 on five devices including Windows, Mac and mobile devices (iPhone and Android) and see below for a list of applications:

  1. Word
  2. Excel
  3. PowerPoint
  4. Microsoft Teams
  5. Publisher
  6. OneDrive for Business
  7. Microsoft OneNote

Note

  1. The list of supported applications may change depending on your device.
  2. You will only be able to access your UL email account and download Microsoft Office 24 hours after you have completed your registration / enrolment task.

How can I download Microsoft Office 365 onto my own device?

  1. Open a web browser and go to portal.office.com, and login using your UL email address (<student number>@studentmail.ul.ie) and your computer account password
  2. Click on the “Install Office” icon (top right-hand corner), select ‘Office 365 Apps” and follow the instructions on screen.

What is happens when I graduate?

Please review our Digital User Account Management page for information on accessing your Office 365 account when you complete your studies in UL. It is important that your data is backed up from your OneDrive account and any important emails are saved before your Office 365 account is deleted.

UL Students are eligible for a free downloadable copy of Matlab.

The University of Limerick signed an agreement with MathWorks that provides all students, educators, and researchers with access to MATLAB, Simulink, and additional products on and off campus, on any device. Everyone has access to MathWorks learning resources, including self-paced, online training, to quickly develop their MATLAB and Simulink skills.

SPSS is a program used for statistical analysis. UL has a site license for SPSS which includes unlimited authorised and concurrent licenses as well as student and staff home use which includes installation on personal devices. Usage of this software is subject to the terms and conditions specified by the vendor.

Where can I download the latest SPSS Software, and update/renew the license code?

To download the latest SPSS Software and update/renew the license code, please go to Topdesk. Login and select IT Services for Students, then go to Software (Students) and select IBM SPSS Request.

MINITAB is a general purpose statistical software package.  Students and staff can use this software both on and off campus, including on students’/teachers’ own machines.   

For instruction on installing Minitab please go to Topdesk. Login with your Student Computer Account, select IT Services for Students, go to Software (Students) and select Minitab.

EndNote Online is available to all UL students & staff. Click here for information on how to download and install EndNote - go to the "Installing EndNote Desktop" section. 

Where can I download the latest Endnote Software, and update/renew the license code?

NVivo is intended to help users organize and analyse non-numerical or unstructured data. The software allows users to classify, sort and arrange information; examine relationships in the data; and combine analysis with linking, shaping, searching, and modelling.

To download the latest NVivo Software and update/renew the license code, please go to Topdesk. Login with your Student Computer Account, select IT Services for Students, go to Software (Students) and select NVIVO Request.
