Our Telephony Voice Modernisation project involves updating UL’s telephone system to improve the service and meet the University's future needs.
Several drivers identified the requirement for an updated phone system in line with the rise in hybrid working. This project will also allow ITD to leverage existing technologies already in use in UL.
What does it mean for the UL community?
All employees who require a UL telephone extension will be transitioned to the Microsoft Teams voice system. The MS Teams voice system retains the primary functionality of the traditional telephone system but provides greater efficiencies and flexibility for hybrid working by enabling users to make and receive calls from any location (on campus or remote office) or device (computer or mobile phone).
Training and support will be provided to users as part of the transition to the new system.
The Telephony Voice Modernisation project is part of the IT Infrastructure and Digital System Integration programme of work under the UL Enable IT Strategy.
