There was a strong turnout at the inaugural CLL Alliance meeting that was held recently in Limerick. The event was opened by Professor Ruth Clifford, Chairperson of the alliance and LDCRC Clinical Director, with the welcome address given by Prof Paul Browne president of Hematology Association of Ireland. There were 5 guest lectures including Jan Rynne, Chairperson of the CLL Ireland Trustee Board and CLL patient who gave a compelling talk on “a lived experience of CLL patient advocacy”.
The final talk of the day was by keynote speaker and internationally renowned Haematologist – oncologist Prof Susan O’Brien from UCI Medical Centre California who has paved the way in CLL research and clinical trials. There were also 4 vignette sessions followed by lively panel discussions.
This event was a great showcase for the ongoing work in cancer research in Limerick and beyond.
