More than 250 people attended the fourth annual Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Centre (PMTC) Knowledge Day for industry held in the Kemmy Business School, UL this week.
Ireland is renowned internationally for its expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing: Research and Development is very important to developing and advancing pharmaceutical manufacturing.
“The research of PMTC focuses on contemporary pharmaceutical manufacturing issues, including plant cleaning, changeover and applications of PAT to continuous manufacturing. These are exciting developments as they build manufacturing competitiveness in PMTC member companies, with the aim of attracting new products and investments to the Irish PharmaChem sector,” said Professor Gavin Walker, academic sponsor PMTC, University of Limerick.
The 4th annual PMTC knowledge day 2018 with over 250 attendees is a key event that brings together academic clusters, industry and government agencies (Enterprise Ireland and IDA) to showcase advanced practical research into current industry problems.
Key speakers and experts from the University of Birmingham, Eli-Lilly, GSK, Rutgers University, Alfa-Laval, Amgen and Steris shared their insights into topics under the theme of continuous manufacturing, application of PAT, vessel cleaning and cleaning validation.
“PMTC is bringing forward novel technologies in a growing pharma market with extensive opportunities to build on the existing well developed, productive and collaborative engagement between industry and academia in the region, aimed at ensuring the availability of a sustainable supply of high-quality skilled postgraduates to support economic growth in the region," said PMTC interim director, Ahmad B. Albadarin.
“It was fantastic to have facilitated and welcomed our recognised partners and a growing cohort of new companies interested in collaboration.” Ahmad continued.
