University of Limerick researchers listed in World’s Top 2% Scientists Rankings

Seventy-seven University of Limerick researchers have been listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists.

The researchers are recognised as being experts in their fields in the rankings produced by Stanford University in conjunction with publisher Elsevier and the SciTech Strategies. The data is collated from Scopus.

They are among the most cited and influential in their fields which include Food Science, Chemistry, Business, Biotechnology, Physics, Medicine, Sports Science, Engineering, Psychology and Pharmaceuticals.

Vice President Research Professor Norelee Kennedy congratulated the researchers.

“We are delighted to see the breadth of UL researchers featuring in the top 2% Scientists worldwide reflecting the recognition of their work in their respective fields. UL’s excellent research continues to make real and impactful contributions to address the world’s grand challenges.”

The Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientist Rankings list is based on citations updated to the end of 2023 and uses metrics such as h-index, co-authorship adjustments, and a composite citation score (c-score), which reflects a researcher’s influence rather than just their publication count.

The data is collated from Scopus, which is an abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed research literature and scientific web sources developed and maintained by Elsevier.
