Brief Description
Transform a comprehensive understanding of Supply Chain performance into a comprehensive advantage for your organisation. The BSc in Supply Chain management is designed to educate learners in the principles and practical application of SCOR framework concepts, enabling participants and supporting organisations to gain a competitive advantage and develop the ability to drive improvement in supply chain operations with measurable results.
This programme is suitable for professionals who:
- Have a minimum of three years of organisational experience and aspire to or currently hold a management position
- Wish to develop and demonstrate effective skills, thinking and judgement in organisational inventory and supply chain management
- Hold a level-7 qualification in any discipline from a third-level institution, a NCEA National Diploma or equivalent qualification
Participants learn to:
- Describe and discuss various concepts of operations management related to supply chain management and grounded in the SCOR model
- Evaluate performance of supply chain activities and identify opportunities for improvement and integration
- Respond to rapid changes in demand and capacity by adjusting and optimising supply chain activities
- Research, evaluate and apply alternative methods to address new issues in supply chain operations
- Use operations management models and best-practice techniques to address new or emerging situations and changes
How it works
- The programme consists of ten taught modules and one project module
- A company-based project in the final semester is key to the course, demonstration successful integration of course concepts in the learners’ workplace

Semester 1 |
Advanced Models & Frameworks for SCM This module introduces a range of frameworks with a particular focus on the SCOR DS standard, to inform systematic thinking on the alignment, design, implementation and operation of supply chains to promote their agility, adaptability and growth. It covers supply chain context, sourcing, product control, quantity control, quality control, production economy, information systems, human factors, and process improvement Plan with Supply Chains Developing the student’s management techniques for planning and controlling the flow of materials, information & value in a supply chain, this module describes current planning systems and how they are used for planning the supply chain. Make with Supply Chains The module outlines how production systems have developed historically and identify how they are being currently impacted by recent developments such as mass customisation, Just-in-Time, Blockchain, AI, Machine Learning, Robotics and Automation. Organisational Behaviour 1 The module aims to provide an understanding of the influence of motivation, perception, attitudes and group behaviour upon job performance and job satisfaction. It examines the links between motivation, job satisfaction and performance, explaining the relationship between job design and job satisfaction and explore ways of motivating employees via job rotation, job enlargement and job enrichment. |
Semester 2 |
Source within Supply Chains This module will cover the context, role and objectives of purchasing activity in supply chains and explain the key concepts in supply-based development and sourcing. Deliver & Return within Supply Chains This module offers a broad framework and clear description of the basic functions and elements related to logistics and distribution. It will introduce logistics in a historical context, define its concepts, and track the main drivers in the area along with exploring the theories of logistics. The module aims to give practical and holistic tools to the student to identify logistics functions, to plan, and maintain effective logistics networks. Business Intelligence & Decision Making As procurement and supply professionals spend ever-increasing proportions of their firm's revenues on necessary goods and services, it is very important that they have an understanding of financial accounts and management of finance. This module aims to provide learners with an appreciation of financial and management accounting. Statistics Provides a basic introduction to the ideas of probability and statistics, and how probability can be applied in a number of contexts including statistical inference. Students will use a basic data recording and analysis software application to produce reports and make any informed decisions regarding necessary process interventions. |
Semester 3 |
Lean Sigma Improvement Methodologies The purpose of this module is to explain the concept of Six Sigma by knowing the definitions of quality and the principles on which quality management philosophies are based. Supply Chain Dynamics Game The Supply Chain Dynamics Game module is to provide students with the opportunity to integrate the knowledge and skills learned from the previous years studies of supply chain management through competing in an online simulation game - Triple Connection. |

Semester 1 |
Management of Change This module provides an overview of the issues facing managers regarding the continuous management of change within their organisation. Case studies will be studied to learn how organisations use a variety of change techniques to successfully manage change within the organisation. The historical aspects of change management will be investigated as well as the theories surrounding change management. These theories will encompass both the Operational and Psychological aspects related to successful change management within an organisation. Supply Chain Management & Customer Relationship Management This module is designed to enable the students to comprehend how understanding the needs of the customer is an essential part of Supply Chain Management and should transcend all elements of the supply chain. It deals with the integration of information and material flows across multiple organisations in the supply chain. By gathering and understanding what the customer values, in an integrated manner, a firm can gain strategic advantage in supply chain competency. Integration Development to Production This module will provide an overview of the design process from a procedural and practical business perspective. It will describe the stages in the product lifecycle and their key actors and components. Students will apply the NPD theory to a supply chain setting and review the NPD process critically. Simulation Modelling & Analysis The purpose of this module is to provide students with knowledge on discrete event simulation modeling and its application to manufacturing, logistic and services systems. It provides students with broad understanding of how simulation can be applied to manufacturing, logistic and services systems with the goal of understanding where it could be applied and possible benefits and challenges in its application. Students will be introduced and work with a commercial off-the-shelf simulation tool called SIMUL8. |
Semester 2 |
Supply Chain Risk Assessment & Forecasting This module is designed to provide an overview of supply chain management and how it can contribute to improved business performance. Significant effort will be placed on the development of supply chain management philosophy and operational practice. The module will provide a thorough understanding of how risks within the supply chain need to be identified and planned for. The module specifically addresses the needs of front-line managers with current and future supply chain management responsibilities. Strategic Management This module aims to provide students with a deep understanding of strategic management principles and practices. It will equip students with the knowledge and frameworks that they can use to effectively manage and run a business. The aim is to enable students to take this knowledge and apply the learning to real world situations. Corporate Social Responsibility The central objective of this module is to introduce Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to students, thereby providing a framework for examining and evaluating the actions and performance of organisations in the context of sustainable and socially responsible activity. Information Systems & Decision Support This module will introduce students to information as a corporate resource; to the firm as an information processing entity; to the types of business systems platforms in support of- managerial and executive-level decision making and the coordination of business processes. |
Semester 3 |
Supply Chain Project 1 This module enables students to understand and apply techniques of project management to a supply chain problem. Students will apply the project planning techniques to a Company project and critique the project from the point of view of setup, structure, the roles of personnel, team development, execution and tracking, organisation PM maturity, and the results delivered. At the end of the module students will be enabled to use the project management techniques in their own working environment. |
