Brief Description
The MSc in Bioprocessing (online) explores the fundamental science behind bioprocessing ranging from molecular biology to downstream processing in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.
The course will equip students with the latest research advances including data analytics, predictive modelling and new methods to manufacture protein products beyond conventional bacterial and cell culture-based methods.
The MSc is a one year full time (fully online) or two year part time programme which is delivered through a combination of lectures and tutorials, interactive group and one-on-one sessions, and research project work.
Students will learn about the latest advances in biochemistry and biomanufacturing including computational modelling. Tutorials will emphasise problem-based learning to encourage creative self-directed learning and equip students with advanced numerical and computational skills for proactive troubleshooting in industrial bioprocessing.
Guest speakers at the cutting edge of current industry regulatory affairs will present during the programme. These lectures will be supplemented with additional reading material, assignments, discussion forums and quizzes.
Through the Summer research project students will develop their enquiry-based learning and presentation skills as they explore scientific and technical issues currently facing bio-based industries.
