Brief Description
This MicroCred is designed to position supply-chain management in the context of its roots in operations management, and its relationship with other functional management.

This course qualifies for 50% funding under the HCI Micro-Credential Course Learner Subsidy. Check fees section for details and eligibility. Please Note: Applicants may only apply for and receive, one subsidised course per semester.

Course commencement is subject to internal validation and approval
On successful completion of this MicroCred, students will be able to:
- Explain key concepts underpinning decision-making in supply-chain management
- Recognise the central role of planning in integrating source, make, deliver and return activities, and in accounting for work done and feedback into revaluation and review towards continuous improvement.
- Explain the need for an integrative frame of reference in structuring supply-chain activities in terms of transactional activities and outcome measurement; in particular to understand the main high-level elements of the SCOR model with some ideas on how to implement it in practice.
- Identify the system nature of supply-chain at a global level.
- Compile the elements in a systematic fashion to the practical context of supply-chain work, with reference to the spirit of the SCOR framework.
Assessment: There is no final exam for this module. You will be assessed through 1-2 continuous skill based assignments, provided by your lecturer
This Micro-cred is open to those currently employed or seeking employment in a variety of technology rich industries, such as Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, Biotechnology and Manufacturing.
Middle managers seeking to reinforce experiential learning with an academic qualification in supply chain management.
Completion of an NFQ Level 7 qualification in management or equivalent.
Entry requirements are established to ensure the learner can engage with the course material and assessments, at a level suitable to their needs, and the academic requirements of the module. By applying to this micro-credential, you are confirming that you have reviewed and understand any such requirements, and that you meet the eligibility criteria for admission.
Successful completion of this module does not automatically qualify you for entry into a further award. All programme applicants must meet the entry requirements listed if applying for a further award.
