UL@Work programmes are co-designed with industry to ensure skills transfers are industry-responsive for current and future needs. They are developed for working professionals and are designed to be flexible and accessible. This part-time offering is delivered on a blended learning basis with a mix of online classes and in-person campus days.
Note* Those with a Level 7 qualification in Human Resource Management (HRM) or a related area will be considered for accelerated entry into Year 2 of this programme.
This BA (Hons) in Human Resource Management (HRM) and the Future of Work is a comprehensive programme covering key areas of human resource management (HRM), learning and development (L&D) and employment relations, as well as broader related subjects such as economics, sociology and law.
On successful completion of this programme, you will:
- Have in-depth knowledge and skills required for effective management, leadership and strategic thinking in the digital work environment.

What are the dates for the in-person sessions?
On-campus in-person sessions take place on 4 Mondays during each semester. The dates for 2024/2025 are as follows:

The programme is delivered on a blended learning basis. Material for each module is posted online for you to engage with at a time that suits your schedule. There are also four in-person on-campus sessions each semester. All on-campus days take place from 9am to 6pm in the Kemmy Business School.
A minimum Level 6 qualification in HRM or a cognate area. Those with a Level 7 qualification in HRM or a cognate area will be considered for entry to Year 2 of the course. You must also have a minimum of two years’ work experience with at least six months experience in a management, supervisory or other equivalent experience.
You are required to complete a Recognition of prior learning (RPL) form, giving details of your work experience, previous courses and informal learning experiences. RPL is a process which seeks to acknowledge all forms of learning.

How many hours per week? What is the split between Lecture + study time and tutorial time?
- Online – each module will post 2 hours of material online.
- On-campus weeks – a 2-hour lecture for each module.
You will be required to engage in additional study/reading/assignment work each week over the semester in line with ECTS credits for each module.
Do you need to attend live/ or is everything recorded?
Online material is recorded and posted on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) platform for you to engage with at a time that suits your schedule. There are four in-person sessions (dates above) over each semester which you must attend.

Is there a project?
There is no thesis or significant project component to this programme. Module assessments are designed by each module leader. The programme team works together to plan assignments to balance your learning workload and ensure a variety of assessments.
How is the learning applied?
There is a strong focus on work-based learning, where you will use your conceptual knowledge and practical skills and apply them to real-life scenarios within your own workplace.
What software/ programmes are used?
You are expected to be proficient in MS Office, including Word / PowerPoint / Teams. The material will be posted on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Once registered for the programme, you will have access to everything you need, including our virtual learning platform(VLE) and library resources.
