The purpose of the module is to enable practitioners to advance their leadership capability and capacity in being an effective leader and manager within a complex healthcare practice environment.
Managing and developing self and psychometrics tools, clinical leadership competencies, shared and collective leadership theory, policy and leadership development trends, organisational culture, leading teams, resilience, political awareness, and networking, influencing and broad scanning skills, health informatics, managing human and financial resources.

Learning outcomes:
- Develop advanced clinical leadership capabilities in navigating challenges at individual and organisational level.
- Compare and contrast leadership theories and approaches to the effective management and leadership of self, teams, and organisations.
- Critically discuss the importance of building and maintaining relationships and networks across boundaries for effective professional leadership.
- Critically apply influencing, political awareness and broad scanning strategies utilising reflective practice models. · Discuss the value of psychometrics tools in informing clinical leaders’ competencies and styles.
- Demonstrate an appreciation for developing clinical leadership capability and capacity in self, teams, and organisations.
- Appreciate the importance of effective human and financial resource management in relation to enhancing performance.
- Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of either prior successful completion of a degree qualification taught through the medium of English or meet criteria identified in the English Language qualifications set by the University of Limerick.
- Hold a recognised health-related professional qualification and current professional registration with their relevant regulatory professional body.
