This module will provide learners with an understanding and practical ability to correctly classify, value and determine origin for materials being imported or exported by their organisations, the legislative basis and the mechanisms required for import and export compliance. Participants will learn to understand their role in compliance with global trade regulations and to apply practical export knowledge within their organisation.
Learning outcomes:
On the successful completion of this module, participants will be able to:
Cognitive:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the customs procedures and processes for export from the Irish/EU market
- Describe and apply the principles and requirements determining the classification of goods for export.
- Explain the methods of valuation and how valuation will impact the importer/exporter.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the rules of Origin and how to apply them.
- Demonstrate an ability to research legislation and frameworks.
- Develop an internal structure for Import/Export Compliance
Assessment:
There is no final exam for this module.
You will be assessed through 1-2 continuous skill-based assignments, provided by your lecturer.
The programme is open to managers and supervisors from a variety of disciplines or those aspiring to a managerial role with three to five years organisational experience in a relevant field.
Completion of an NFQ level 6 qualification or equivalent is required.
