John is a senior finance professional with broad and extensive senior management experience. He studied at UCD where he completed a BComm and Masters in Accounting. He is a member of the Irish Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Irish Taxation Institute.
John worked previously in Audit and Corporate Finance roles with Ernst & Young and with payment solutions provider Orbiscom. In 2002 he was appointed as Head of Finance with Limerick City Council. He spent seven years with the Local Authority during which he had his responsibility extended to include the role of Director of Planning and Economic Development for the City.
Since 2009 he has held senior finance roles at UL. In addition to the finance roles, hewas also responsible for Buildings and Estates and the commercial operations on campus. He has been involved at a senior level in UL including being a member of the University Executive Committee, Governing Authority, Governing Authority Finance Committee and the Governing Authority Campus Development Committee.
He has over twenty five years senior management experience with fourteen of these spent in a senior management role in Higher Education.
