Time of assuming the current Leadership role

On 26th March 2016, Mr Liam O’Reilly assumed the role of Director Information Technology Division at University of Limerick

Experience and Education

Liam is a University of Limerick graduate with twenty-eight years senior management experience across multinational and globally diverse organizations. His experience spans both the Private and Public Sectors, including working extensively in the Education sector. Since March 2016, Liam has been the Director of the Information Technology Division at the University of Limerick, where he has led the development and implementation of UL’s first ever IT Strategy, resulting in the transformation of UL’s IT Service model and the shaping of a modern Digital Services organisation in support of UL’s mission in teaching, learning and research. In 2019, Liam was appointed as a non-executive Director to the Board of Plassey Campus Centre. 

Prior to joining UL, Liam worked for 20 years at both Vice President and Director levels across a number of multinational Consultancy and Managed Services organisations such as Dell, Perot Systems and Version 1. Roles held during this period include Managing Director, Ireland at Perot Systems, European Application Services Director at Dell Services and Director Commercial and Utilities Sector at Version 1. During these varied leadership portfolios Liam gained a wide variety of diverse international business experience in Service Delivery, Operations, Marketing and Sales while living, travelling, and working across the US, India, Europe and in Ireland. 

Liam holds a first-class honours degree in Information Technology and Telecommunications from UL (B. Tech) and a Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (C. Dip AF).
