The 32nd annual conference of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) took place over the October bank holiday weekend 2022 and welcomed over 630 delegates in person and online to the UL campus. It was the biggest conference in IADMS’ history, as well as the first hybrid conference run by the organisation.
This event caters for all those involved in supporting dancer health, including surgeons and other clinicians, researchers, dance educators and students, and is estimated to have been worth several million euros to the local economy.
The host committee, led by Dr Róisín Cahalan from the School of Allied Health and Dr Orfhlaith Ni Bhríain of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, also included several colleagues from the IWAMD (Dr Grant McLay, Dr Breandán de Gallaí, Dr Jenny Roche, and Acting Dean AHSS Dr Sandra Joyce.) The committee also included international colleagues from the University of Chichester (Ms Edel Quin) and Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne (Prof Emma Redding).
The event also included a gala concert, featuring the best of local dance and music talent from the University and the broader city community.
