The new National Access Plan 2022 -2028, aimed at improving equity of access, participation and success in higher education for disadvantaged students, was launched on 31 August 2022. This plan has identified a number of priority groups who continue to be underrepresented in higher education and which need additional focus and support. These are: students who are socio-economically disadvantaged; students who are members of Irish Traveller and Roma communities; and students with disabilities, including intellectual disabilities.

There will be a particular focus on students who have experienced homelessness, domestic violence, the criminal justice system and the care system. The Student Affairs Division welcomes the launch of this plan and looks forward to working on its implementation.

More details about the national access plan can be found on the Government website.
