Muddasar Muhammad, winner of UL’s 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition during Research Week 2024, secured a brilliant 2nd place overall in today’s Irish Universities Association (IUA) National 3MT final.
This is a great achievement and one that should be celebrated as the quality of presentations at the final was spectacular. The winner of the competition was Aideen McCabe of UCC, whose presentation, 'Catching Ovarian Cancer Early: A multi-omic approach to assess expression and regulation of long, non-coding transcripts in ovarian cancer' wowed the judges and watching public.
Chair of the judging panel, Jim Miley, Director General of the IUA, said, ‘the future of research in this country is in great hands when you see the eight leaders in their field who presented to us today. We have seen how important investment in research is to the future development of this country’.
Muddasar’s presentation was 'Harnessing the Power of Leftover Lignin for Waste Heat Harvesting'.
