Biography
Currently lecturing and conducting research for Medtech development in the School of Design at the University of Limerick, Ireland. I am passionate about merging data and intuition to drive impactful innovation. Specialising in qualitative research methodologies, research rigour, and ethical integrity throughout the entire product lifecycle, from problem definition and product development to design verification, and validation against stakeholder requirements. Expertise in creatively applying qualitative research methods, such as ethnographic studies, immersion/observation, in-depth interviews, and product evaluation, to enhance user experience. Skilled in human factors research, user-centered design methods, rapid prototyping, clinical evaluation, and regulatory considerations. Led and contributed to a number of successful research and industry funding grants including IRC, Seedcorn, EI and H2020, totalling over €2.5m. Supervising PhD students in Human Factors and medical device development research. Involved in two spin-out companies as design and regulatory lead. Published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, and co-inventor on several patents (EU & US).Additional skills include:
