Background:

It is becoming increasingly clear that the impacts of COVID-19 will be widespread and long-lasting, changing many aspects of work and life. The spread of COVID-19 has focused attention on the severe and rapid impact on our economy and the importance for education and businesses to identify new and creative ways to adapt to the uncertain environment and shifting market needs.  The pandemic has also highlighted critical aspects of human life and community, such as the importance of safety in the home, equal access to basic hygiene and security, access to communications and information as essential for work and education, and the importance of social networks and community bonds to resilience.

Researchers across the four UL faculties have a wide range of skills and expertise to inform this emerging research paradigm. The UL Research for Policy and Society post COVID-19 network has been established by the four ADsR in order to highlight researchers currently working in this area, or with research expertise that can be mobilised in response to post COVID-19 challenges.

Four themes have been identified:

Theme 1. Livelihoods, economies, and innovation/

Theme 2. Health, care, and equality

Theme 3. Communication, culture, and education

Theme 4. Futures, uncertainty and sustainability

To date, over 60 researchers from across UL have joined this research network. The schedule for the event reflects a number of participant members, but the full list of members with a summary of their research areas is available here. This is a live document, and members are very welcome to join.
