The 12th International Conference on Sensing Technology (ICST 2018) was organised and chaired by Dr Thomas Newe from ECE from the 4th to the 6th December 2018. Over 80 papers were presented in 18 Technical sessions on topics including; Gas and Chemical Sensors, Biomedical Sensing, IoT, Environmental Monitoring, Mechanical/Magnetic Sensors, Optical Sensors, Novel Applications, Image, Vision and Range Sensing, Wireless Sensor Networks, General Sensing, Medical Applications, Sensor Interfacing/Applications and a Special session on Bioimpedance Spectroscopy. In addition, two Keynote presentations were delivered by Dr. Sinead O’Keeffe on ‘Optical fibre sensors: guiding the future of radiotherapy’ and Prof Kenneth Grattan on ‘Advanced optical-fibre sensor systems designed for difficult industrial monitoring situations’. The accepted and presented papers are published in the IEEE Explore library and all presented papers are invited to submit extended versions for additional review to a special issue of the MDPI open access journal, Sensors.
The 12th ICST was supported by Science Foundation Ireland, Analog Devices, Failte Ireland, University of Limerick, Ireland, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, Bank of Ireland, MDPI-Sensors Journal, and was technically sponsored by The IEEE and The UK and Ireland Chapter of The IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society.
