Limerick, March 7, 2025 – The Limerick IT Summit, hosted at DELL, brought together industry leaders, SMEs, and technology experts to discuss "The Future of Technology: Emerging Trends and Opportunities." Among the esteemed panelists was Lubna Luxmi from the Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering, University of Limerick (UL), who shared valuable insights on leveraging emerging technologies for SMEs.

During the discussion, Luxmi highlighted key opportunities in the evolving tech landscape, emphasizing the importance of EU-based AI factories and how SMEs can navigate associated risks. She also outlined the role of the Digital Ireland Framework and roadmap in shaping the future of digital transformation. A strong advocate for academia-industry collaboration, Luxmi stressed the significance of bridging the skills gap through specialized micro-credentials, professional diplomas, and apprenticeship programmes offered by UL.

The event was attended by SMEs and micro-SMEs from Limerick and the wider Midwest region, reflecting the growing interest in digital transformation strategies. The summit concluded with a speech from the Mayor, reinforcing the importance of innovation and collaboration in driving technological progress.
