Political representatives from over 30 small island nations, global leaders and more than 750 delegates attended Ocean Wealth Summit 2019 from 9-10 June at City Hall, Cork. The central theme of this year’s summit ‘shared voices from small island nations’ focused on the importance of protecting the world’s oceans from the impacts of climate change, for island nations, in particular, to ensure a sustainable long term future for the marine economy as a whole. A range of international experts participated at the summit, including: Former US Secretary of State, John Kerry, and Vice-President of the European Parliament, Mairead McGuinness, MEP, UN Permanent Representatives from a number of countries including Jamaica, Vanuatu, Antigua and Barbuda, Marshall Islands and Palau. In conjunction with OWS, Enterprise Ireland hosted a marine industry show/networking event to promote Irish capabilities in the marine sector. Twenty-two Irish companies showcased their wares in to a mix of nearshore and offshore industry buyers from the UK, Norway, France and the Middle East. Among the exhibitors was the CRIS team featuring our latest aerial remote operated vehicle UAV and ROVs.
