On October 25th, 2023, Dr. Keelin Leahy led an engaging session as part of our Conversation Series, focusing on Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) - Quality Education. Drawing from her extensive experience as a Senior Lecturer of Technology Education at the University of Limerick, Dr. Leahy delved into the importance of ensuring quality education for sustainable development.

With a PhD from the University of Limerick and a research sabbatical at the University of Michigan and Iowa State University, Dr. Leahy is well-versed in design-based strategies for education. Her research interests in creativity, design methods, and pedagogy have significantly contributed to advancing educational practices.

During the session, participants explored various techniques and challenges associated with delivering quality education across different levels. Dr. Leahy's insights shed light on innovative approaches to foster creativity, enhance learning experiences, and address the evolving needs of students in today's dynamic world.

By prioritising quality education, we can empower individuals with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to contribute to sustainable development. Dr. Leahy's expertise underscored the critical role of education in shaping a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future for all.

The UL Student Sustainability Conversation Series invites exceptional individuals to speak to students in the University about their professional and personal experiences, centrally themed around a UN Sustainable Development Goal. We do this to showcase to students the fantastic real-life work that takes place around us in advancing economic, environmental, and/or social sustainability, while providing students with worldviews and perspectives that inspire and challenge perceptions around effective sustainable development.
