These instructions relate to adding a user (student, staff, or external examiner) to your module. Guest (temporary accounts) may also be created.
The following roles are available:
Students
- Learner Manually Added: There are 2 variations here, one is the student who does not yet have a UL email address, and the other is where a student has a UL email address. Both are dealt with separately below.
Instructors
- Instructor Manually Added: There are 2 variations here, one is the UL Instructor who does not have a UL email address, and the other is where an Instructor has a UL email address. Instructions for each are shown below.
- Read Only: This role may be used for an external examiner who wishes to view students work.
Note: New staff and students are added automatically to Brightspace once a day based on SI data. Users added via the Bulk upload options below will be added to modules every 2 hours during normal business hours.
Adding individual students or staff with a UL email address
Note: These instructions are only for adding one or some instructors or students to a module.
- Adding an individual student who has a valid UL student ID and UL email address to a module
- Adding an individual instructor who has a valid UL email address to a module
Bulk adding students or staff with UL email addresses
These instructions are for adding larger numbers of users, up to and including whole classes or groups, to a module. This system will validate the user’s details and ensure all users are added correctly. Users will be added to modules every 2 hours during normal business hours.
Adding Students who do not yet have a UL email address
Adding Instructors who do not yet have a UL email address
- Adding instructors who do not have a UL email address to a module (Note: If an account is created this way, it will be created off the instructors personal email. It will not amalgamate with their UL email, when one is created (if they want/need a UL email))
