If you have linked a Brightspace Assignment to the Grades tool and wish to ‘Publish’ grades in the Assignment tool so that they populate the Grades tool, it’s important to make sure the grade item in the Grades tool is hidden first. Otherwise Brightspace will generate a notification to students containing the published grade.

 

If you want to push grades from the Assignment tool to the Grades tool but not release these to students, the following process should be followed:

 

Process:

  1. Hide the assignment in the Assignment tool
  2. Hide the grade item the assignment is linked to in the Grades tool
  3. Publish grades within the Assignment tool.
  4. These will then be pushed to the Grades tool but will not be visible to students.

Following this process will not generate the notification as the notification comes from the Grades tool. It will also hide published grades in the assignments and progress tools.
