The Department of Accounting and Finance is one of four constituent Departments in the Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick. The Department has responsibility for the disciplines of accounting, finance, risk management and insurance, taxation and corporate social responsibility.

Faculty in the Department contribute to teaching on a number of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels providing students with knowledge and skills that will guarantee that they are at the cutting edge of a rapidly changing business world, now and into the future. Faculty have a variety of professional and academic qualifications as well as experience working in practice and in industry.  This strongly underpins the achievement of excellence and relevance in the teaching of the core disciplines, Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Risk Management and Insurance. 

The Department manages a highly demanded MSc in Risk Management and InsuranceMSc in Financial ServicesMaster of Taxation along with a new MSc in Accounting commencing in September 2024; two major options within the Bachelor of Business Studies DegreeBA in Law and Accounting (with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences); and core elements for many other courses throughout the University of Limerick. The Department manages the BA (Hons) in Applied Taxation and the Diploma in Applied Taxation through the National Centre for Taxation Studies.

The Department of Accounting and Finance offers supervision up to doctorate level in its research areas.
