The Department of Accounting & Finance contributes significantly to the Bachelor of Business Studies Degree programme with particular involvement in the Major Options in Accounting & Finance, Risk Management & Insurance and Economics & Finance, and the Minor Options in Financial Services and also the BA in International Business. The Department also has joint responsibility with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in the BA Law and Accounting.
At postgraduate level, the department has responsibility for delivering the Graduate Diploma in Agile Business Analysis, the Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence in Finance, the MSc in Risk Management and Insurance, the MSc in Financial Services, the MSc in Business Analytics programmes, the new and first, fully online programme of its kind in Ireland the MSc in Machine Learning for Finance, along with a new MSc in Accounting commencing in September 2024.
Through the National Centre for Taxation Studies (NCTS) and its unique partnership with the Revenue Commissioners, the Department offers a BA in Applied Taxation and accredits a Diploma in Applied Taxation.
Exemptions and Scholarships are available to students of specific programmes in the Department of Accounting and Finance. Accounting exemptions are available to students who graduate with a BA Law & Accounting Degree, a BBS with a Major Option in Accounting & Finance, or a BBS with a Major Option in Economics & Finance. Insurance Exemptions are also available to students who graduate with an MSc. in Risk Management and Insurance, a BBS with a Major Option in Risk Management & Insurance, or a BA International Insurance & European Studies. Scholarships for professional certification in Financial Risk Management are available to students who graduate with an MSc. in Financial Services or an MSc. in Risk Management and Insurance. Scholarships for professional certification in Sustainability and Climate Risk Management are available to students who graduate with an MSc. in Risk Management and Insurance.
